7 Attitudes That Can Get Your Car Stolen
These are attitudes that I have noticed some people having towards their car over the years and they have paid so dearly for it. “the greatest wisdom you can have is learning the mistakes of others” – genius fadray.

7. Parking outside your compound over
night
Car thieves are
always looking for a car out on the street. If you car isn't on the street,
it's less likely to get stolen. Parking in your compound is the best way to
protect your car. For those of us who live in cities, this means renting a
garage. It's not the cheapest option, but it's an investment in your car's
safety.
If you park your car
an area with a high crime rate, and presumably a high concentration of
criminals, it's more likely to be taken than when it's parked in a
statistically safer area with good lighting and a neighbourhood watch.
- Flashy
cars are eye catching to thieves. My friend’s Toyota Camry just got stolen
because he parked outside his gate.
6.
I don’t wanna spend on my car.
Following the broken windows theory, a well-maintained
car will deter potential carjackers. If they see that you care about and take
care of your car, you're more likely to have an alarm, more likely to have a
way to find it, and more likely to notice it missing.
Getting a good and
loud alarm system for your car is not too much to invest in other than
purchasing a new car. Nobody dare complain when the alarm is triggered,
ask them, will you buy a new car
for me?
Here's a scenario:
you see Car One with a box of tissues on the floor. In front of that car is Car
Two in which an iPod, navigation system, a laptop, briefcase and a watch are
strewn about the passenger's seat. Are you more tempted to break into Car One or
Car Two? Pretty simple really — make it seem like there's nothing in your car
worth taking.
4. Always forgetting to lock your car doors:
This one seems so
simple, and yet is so often ignored. A thief looking for a car to steal is more
likely to go for the vehicle whose owner was kind enough to complete his first
step for him, and has given him open access to everything inside.
- Car thieves nowadays have the knowledge of starting
your car without keys so don’t think no one can move your car without it keys
or sensor.
3. Trusting your friend with your Car
This happens most
especially amongst young guys, they tend to let their friends drive their cars,
telling and showing them the security measures on how to operate their car... A
month or two? The car is gone with no trace of carjacking. The number one
person that can take your car unnoticed is a person that knows how your car
operates.
2. Getting Drunk at Club/Party
This is another easy
way of getting your car stolen if you drink alcohol a lot and lose you
sense of reasoning. While you are drinking, the thief is at a corner waiting
for a set time to rub you of your car key.. and ZOOOOM your car is gone.
- If you happen to fall in this category, please try
to control your drinking or better still give your keys to a trusted fellow
when you are still sober.
it is always funny
to my hear when people say steering lock is stressful and old school.. I tell
them "if what you call
Old school can protect my car, then i sign in for it".
The best way to keep your locked car from being
stolen is the use of steering lock for your steering and even a peddle lock for
your accelerator and break peddle. If they cannot control these, they
cannot move you car.
